My notes on all of Chauvenet’s 2017s tasted from barrel in November 2017 are here.
These wines were bottled in February 2019.
Christophe Drag nailed it in the 2017 vintage -- if you come across the wines, don’t miss them.
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges
Smooth, round, mineral dark fruits, fresh, medium weight, round tannins. Very good to drink already. From the Allots, Saint-Jacques, and Petits Charmots lieux-dits on red soils. (Chauvenet has a separate Lavières bottling.) 92/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Argillas
Pure, fresh, energetic red and dark fruits. Mineral, slightly creamy texture but light on tongue, round tannins. Great for current drinking and will last. 93/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes
Purple fruits, freshness, airiness, good energy, minerality, length. 93/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières
More concentrated, tannic structure is more evident than for Damondes. Long, energetic, violets. 92+/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Vaucrains
Stony, mineral Vaucrains nose. Intense, deep black raspberry fruit in mouth, precision, depth, freshness elegance, round tannins, length. Fabulous bottle. 94+/A
