Domaine Bruno CLAIR (Marsannay) -- 2015 from Bottle

(Originally published 10 August 2018.)

This set, all red, is good, but with a notable jump in quality from the first two to the last two.

2015 Marsannay   Les Longeroies
The nose here is floral The mouth is light and smooth with red fruits. 88/B+

2015 Gevrey-Chambertin    1er Cru    Les Cazetiers
Clair’s Gevrey-Cazetiers is round and has finesse to go with dark fruits. There’s good length here, but the wine lacks the complexity of a still better Cazetiers. 90/B+

2015 Gevrey-Chambertin    1er Cru   Clos Saint-Jacques
The Clos Saint-Jacques has dark fruits with the gaminess typical of the vineyard and it shows good density. The wine is still primary, but there is very good promise for the future here.  94/A

2015 Bonnes-Mares
Last, the Bonnes-Mares has very good density and structure to go with slightly earthy dark fruits. Here, too, there is very good promise for the patient. 94/A
