Robert CHEVILLON (Nuits-Saint-Georges) -- 2017 Tasted from Barrel

Bertrand Chevillon said that the harvest here began on 5 September. Yields were 37-40 hl/ha. Malic acidities were normal and the malo-lactic fermentations finished in spring 2018.

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges
The village Nuits has a nose of fresh, pure, crisp dark fruits. The dark fruits, especially blackberry, continue in the mouth. The wine shows purity and is light on the palate. It is a village wine of outstanding quality.  (91-93)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Chaignots
Chevillon’s Nuits-Chaignots has spicy dark and red fruit aromas and flavors and is medium-weight. There’s plenty of structure here (but not too much), and this is a wine that seems to still need time in the barrel to develop. (91-94)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges     1er Cru     Les Bousselots
The Nuits-Bousselots has spice and floral aromas. The mouth is more sculpted and tannic than that of the Chaignots, and the wine shows purity and depth.  (92-95)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Les Roncières
Switching to the vineyards south of the town of Nuits, the Nuits-Roncières is darker and deeper than the Bousselots, and there’s plenty of structure here, too. The wine is medium-light on the palate and for the moment, at least, very straightforward. (92-94)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Perrières
The Nuits-Perrières shows typical minerality in the nose. The mouth, though does not have quite the tension that’s usually here, but there is plenty of backbone for the mineral red fruits. (91-94)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Pruliers
The Nuits-Pruliers is has darker fruit that is deep and pure, and the wine has good structure and lightness on the palate. (92-94)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Cailles
This wine is the pure with the smooth Cailles texture and more concentration and density than any of the previous wines. There are red and dark fruits, and as usual here, finesse for Nuits. (93-96)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Les Saint-Georges
The Les Saint-Georges shows finesse and even more concentration to its dark and red fruits. The wine is long with a velvet texture and quality tannins. This wine should be able to take substantial aging. (94-96)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Les Vaucrains
Another great Chevillon Vaucrains. This wine shows typical minerality to its dark fruit, purity, a straightforward structure, some licorice elements, and fabulous depth.  (95-97)
