Jean-Jacques CONFURON (Premeaux) -- 2017 Tasted from Bottle

My notes from tasting these wines from barrel the previous year are here.

These wines across the board are a fine demonstration of the excellent quality that the 2017 vintage can deliver.

2017 Bourgogne  Pinot Noir
The generic Bourgogne is light, fresh, and pure with red fruits and salinity. It is a delicious bottle that drinks well already. 50% whole clusters here — the only wine in 2017 that had any. 87/B+

2017 Côte de Nuits-Villages   Les Vignottes
Red fruits and spices in the nose, the body here is medium-light with freshness and precision to red currant fruits. 88/B+

2017 Côte de Nuits-Villages   La Montagne
This wine shows notably better than when I tasted from barrel last year. The wine is pure and focused with long red and black currant fruit, freshness, a smooth texture, and some tannins to support aging.  90/A

2017 Chambolle-Musigny
This lovely wine is light and elegant with red fruits floating above the tongue, round tannins, and a very attractive silky texture. 90+/A

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges   Les Fleurières
The spicy nose is followed by a silky texture with red and dark fruits, purity, and precision. 91/A

2017 Chambolle-Musigny   1er Cru
The Chambolle 1er Cru is spicy with red fruits in the nose. The mouth dense and almost chewy and the wine is intense and powerful with good length and salinity, but it needs more time to come together.  90+/B+

2017 Vosne-Romanée   1er Cru  Les Beaux Monts
Confuron’s Vosne-Beaux Monts has lead pencil and dark fruit aromas. The mouth is medium-full and round with Beaux Monts minerality and violets and overall finesse. 93+/A

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges   1er Cru   Aux Boudots
With a typical Boudots nose of light spices and dark fruits, followed in the mouth by dark fruits, finesse, and purity with good length and minerality, this is an excellent representative of its terroir. 93+/A

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Chaboeufs
Lead pencil aromas precede a wine that is pure and penetrating as well as light on the palate. Like the 2018, this wine shows finesse for a Chaboeufs. Good length to the wine.  93/A

2017 Clos Vougeot
Attractive already, the Clos Vougeot combines density with finesse, black raspberry fruit, and good length. 93/A-

2017 Romanée-Saint-Vivant
The Romanée-Saint-Vivant is much more closed than the Clos Vougeot. Still, typical spicy dark fruits show in the nose, and in the mouth the wine has a silky texture with dark fruits. But this wine needs a fair amount of time in the bottle to achieve its full potential. 95(+)/A
