FAIVELEY (Nuits-Saint-Georges) 2015 Part III -- White Grands Crus Tasted from Barrel

(Originally published 5 March 2017.)

In this abbreviated view of Faiveley’s 2015 whites, they provide a good overview of the vintage: ripe and for the most part enjoyable, but lacking the structure and acidity of the best vintages.

2015 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet
The Bienvenues-Bziatard-Montrachet  displays ripe peach aromas. The ripe peaches continue into the mouth where the wine is smooth and long with great finesse. (92-95)

2015 Bâtard-Montrachet
This wine has more yellow peach than the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and it is rounder, but with less acidity, and I found it a little flat. (?)

2015 Corton-Charlemagne
Last, the Corton-Charlemagne is a ripe, rich, and powerful with minerality. What prevents it from being still better is a lack of the tension that I expect in Corton-Charlemagne. It should be good for early drinking.  (90-93)
