Plenty of outstanding wine here. Kühn, Prinz, and Spreitzer are consistent stars of the Rheingau, but the others are also producing outstanding wines, too.

2016 (Hattenheim) Hassel Riesling GG
Floral nose, complex. Elegant mouth, moderate concentration, smooth, floral fruit, yellow fruit. 91(+)/A-

20017 (Hallgarten) Schönhell Riesling GG
Marzipan nose. In mouth, the wine is dense, pure, and crisp with some richness, especially for this vineyard. Orange zest flavor. 92(+)/A

2017 (Hattenheim) Wisselbrunnen Riesling GG
Floral nose. Floral with some richness, good depth, length, yellow fruits. 92(+)/A

Succulent texture, medium-weight, mineral. 91(+)/A-

Intense, spicy, floral nose. Intense, energetic mouth, orange rind, citric fruit. 93(+)/A

Subtle apple nose. Persistent, dense, some minerality in the mouth. Structure. 90(+)/B+

Subtle, complex floral, mineral combination in nose. Mineral, penetrating, medium-light in mouth. 92/A

Medium-light in weight, airy, pure, mineral. 92+/A

2017 (Hallgarten) Schönhell Riesling GG
Finesse, purity, persistence, delineated yellow and white fruits. 93+/A



Balthasar RESS

2017 (Hattenheim) Nussbrunnen Riesling GG
Butter element in nose. Very mineral, but not yet come together. 90(+)/B+




Josef SPREITZER

2017 (Hattenheim) Wisselbrunnen Riesling GG
Medium-weight, smooth, good depth, apply fruit, yellow fruit. A bit less refined than Barth’s Wisselbrunnen. 92/A
