Nahe 2017 and 2016 Grosses Gewächs Riesling Part III: Crusius, Dönnhoff, Hermannsberg, Schäfer-Fröhlich

Amazingly, all these wines, tasted one against the other, seemed just about equal in overall quality (the slightest of nods to Dönnhoff). It will be interesting with time to go back and see how they show.




Dr. CRUSIUS

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Felsenberg Riesling GG 
Nervy apricot nose. Apricot, light on palate, calm, long. 92+/A

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Kupfergrube Riesling GG
Floral, peach blossom nose. Medium-light but good breadth; cassis fruit. 92(+)/A





DÖNNHOFF

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Felsenberg “Felsentürmchen" Riesling GG
Elegant, pure, firm, good acidity, dark berries. 93/A




Gut HERMANNSBERG

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Felsenberg Riesling GG 
Quite tight, but there is focus here to fruit. Needs time. 92+/A

2016 (Schlossböckelheim) Kupfergrube Riesling GG
Mineral, pure, medium-light, stony; classic. 92+/A




SCHÄFER-FRÖHLICH

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Felsenberg Riesling GG
Rather calm for a Schäfer-Fröhlich wine, blackberry and apricot fruit. round, long. 92+/A

2017 (Schlossböckelheim) Kupfergrube Riesling GG
Cassis nose and mouth; medium-weight, good energy. 92+/A
