Domaine JAMET/Corinne, Jean-Paul, & Loïc JAMET

2016 Collines Rhodaniennes    Syrah
This wine is medium-light in weight with Syrah dark plum and berry fruit and a hint of vanilla. It is correct, but suggests none of the magnificence that Jamet’s Côte-Rôties can have. Lot LP 16. 12% stated alcohol. 85/B-

2014 Côte-Rôtie
There’s quite a bit reduction in this wine, so I recommend decanting if you are going to drink it young. The wine has spicy red fruits, and a smooth, medium-weight body. 13% stated alcohol. Lot LA14. 92+/A

Vignobles LEVET

2014 Côte-Rôtie    Les Journaries/Maestra*
From vines located in the La Landonne climat, this wine is sold as Les Journaries in the U.S. and Maestra elsewhere. The nose and mouth are earthy and mineral and there is stoniness, purity, and length here. 93/A

2014 Côte-Rôtie   La Chavaroche/La Péroline*
La Chavaroche is the name of a lieu-dit on the Côte Brune. Outside of the United States, the wine is sold as La Péroline. The nose is quite mineral The mouth has dark furit that is pure, mineral, long, and delineated with a feeling of lightness on the palate. 93+/A

Domaine LIONNET

2014 Cornas    Terre Brulée
This wine has closed up somewhat. It is tannic with dark fruits that are at this time less intense and complex than those of the 2015 below. 91+/B+

2015 Cornas    Terre Brulée
The 2015 Cornas "Terre Brulée" is intense and deep with explosive dark, mineral fruit. Plenty of potential here, but expect to wait some time. 92+/A-

Jean-Claude MARSANNE

2016 Saint-Joseph blanc
This wine is 100% Marsanne, fermentation is begun in stainless steel but then the wine is transferred to 228-liter barrels. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation. There is a suggestion of fat here, but also good supporting acidity. The wine has white peach, almond, and vanilla aromas and flavors. It should make for good drinking over the next 5-8 years. Lot L 01. 12.5% stated alcohol.  87/B

2016 Saint-Joseph  rouge
Marsanne’s red Saint-Joseph is round and deep with dark fruits, some minerality, a medium-full body, concentration, and enough tannin to supply aging capacity without interfering with current drinkability. 13.5% stated alcohol. 88/B
