As I stated in my previous post, this is a producer to consider if you don’t already know it — they provide quality wines, especially at the premier and grand cru level at a time when other sources are drying up in the market.

All wines below négociant wines vinified by Marchand-Tawse and will be sold under the Marchand-Tawse label.

2022 Coteaux Bourguignons

This wine is 100% Gamay from the bottom of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux. It is smooth, fresh, and mineral with good acidity. Not a wine to be scorned as unworthy. (86-88)

2022 Côte de Nuits-Village

This wine comes from the villages of Comblachien and Corgoloin at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits. It has a smooth, silky texture with dark fruits. About 10-15% whole clusters here. (88-90)

2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges

This wine is about 2/3 from the Vosne-Romanée side of Nuits, and the other third is just below Les Saint-Georges (Plantes au Baron). The wine more stony than the Côte de Nuits-Village with dark, dusty aromas and flavors, and there’s more structure here. But this wine is not showing its full potential and needs more time. About 20% whole clusters. (86-89)

2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges    Les Longecourts

From 72 year-old vines in a vineyard just below Les Saint-Georges, the Longecourts is juicy with dark berry fruit and some penetration, but at this point, I found it a bit pinched on the finish. (87-89)

2022 Morey-Saint-Denis   En la Rue de Vergy

From shallow soils just above the Clos de Tart. The wine has floral aromas, dark fruit flavors, a medium-light body, nervosity, and purity. This is a négociant wine.  (89-91)

2022 Vosne-Romanée

The village Vosne has spicy red and dark fruits, a medium-weight body with good density of fruit and energy, but the wine is a bit rustic for the moment. 30% whole clusters here. (87-89)

2022 Morey-Saint-Denis   1er Cru   Clos des Ormes

From a vineyard below Clos de la Roche and near the Gevrey-Chambertin border, the Clos des Ormes has a bit of creaminess to its texture, red berry fruits, good freshness and acidity, and some tannin showing. About 20% whole clusters. (91-93)

2022 Vosne-Romanée  1er Cru    Les Suchots

From the top part of the Suchots, this wine is medium-light, has a silky texture, and black and red raspberry fruit. The wine is airy and long. Entirely from destemmed fruit. (92-95)

2022 Morey-Saint-Denis    1er Cru   Les Millandes

The Millandes is from a vineyard just beyond the northern edge of the village of Morey and below Clos de la Roche. The wine is layered and caressing with red currant fruit. About 30% whole clusters here. It should be a beauty. (93-95)

2022 Charmes-Chambertin

Marchand-Tawse’s Charmes-Chambertin has a creamy texture with layered red and dark fruits and very good length. (92-94)
