This is the negociant operation associated with Domaine Tawse.
As in the past few vintages, the style is now considerably more elegant and pure than it previously had been.
2017 Coteaux Bourguignons Gamay
Entirely from Gamay, one plot in Vosne, one in Flagey. 100% whole cluster. Grapy, dark fruit, juicy, enjoyable. (86-88)
2017 Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Sourced mainly from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Marsannay, a little from the Côte de Beaune (not the appellation), Hautes Côtes de Beaune, and the Mâconnais. 95% vinified by Marchand-Tawse. Dark, round, pleasing. (85-87)
2017 Pommard Les Vignots
Adjacent to Leroy’s parcel. Round, medium-full, but light, dark berry fruit, slight sappiness, no rusticity. (87-89)
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Longescourts
Very clear dark fruits, good definition. Good length. Medium-light on the palate. 50% whole cluster, 50% new oak. Oak not showing. (90-92)
2017 Vosne-Romanée
Spicy red fruits in mouth, medium-weight, some minerality. Fairly old vines. Some tannin on finish. (88-90)
2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Champs Perdrix
100% whole cluster. Lighter, bonier, good energy, red fruits, nice structure without being hard. (90-92)
2017 Chambolle-Musigny
From three lieux-dits below the premiers crus — Babilières, Maladières, Chardannes. Ample but with finesse, crushed red and dark fruits, good length, freshness. (90-92)
2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Rue de Vergy
Red fruit, sensual, pure. (91-93)
2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Ormes
Medium-weight, fleshy red fruits, round, good intensity, long, but not especially complex. (90-92)
2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots
100% whole clusters. Top part of Suchots. Dark fruit, a bit of Suchots gaminess. Smooth, medium-weight. (91-93)
2017 Corton
Elegant, good clarity to red fruits, some tannin. (From Rognet and Renards). (91-93)
2017 Clos de la Roche
Relaxed style, some dark fruit, depth, breadth, but not the usual Clos de la Roche tension — as I also observed with most of the other 2017s I tasted from Clos de la Roche. 25% whole clusters, 50% new oak. (90-92)
2017 Clos St-Denis
Darker fruit than Clos de la Roche. Here there is some tension, but not the spiciness of Clos Saint-Denis. (92-94)
