Maison de MONTILLE (Meursault) -- 2018 Whites from Barrel and Tank Samples

(Please see my overview of the 2018 vintage here and my introduction to the vintage at de Montille here.)

The lack of biodynamic viticulture and other control over the vineyard in the extreme 2018 vintage show in these wines compared to the Domaine whites. These are not bad, but clearly a step below the Domaine wines in 2018.

All the wines below are from purchases of musts.

2018 Bourgogne Blanc
Crisp, pure, light, spiced apple a touch stretched but still enjoyable. From declassified Montagny. (87-89)

2018 Pouilly-Fuissé
Juicy, apply, round, smooth. From three parcels, all in Vergison. Raised half in stainless steel, half in wood (no new wood). (87-89)

2018 Montagny   1er Cru  Les Coères
Medium-light, pure, apply, slight spice. Maybe 5% new oak. (88-90)

2018 Rully
Crisp, pure, apply, good for drinking young. No new wood, half raised in stainless steel. (86-88)

2018 Saint-Romain
Apply fruit in nose and mouth. A little soft in the middle. Primarily from the En Jarrons climat. (85-87)

2018 Chablis Grand Cru  Les Preuses
Medium-weight, still somewhat neutral. No new wood. (87-89)
