Louis JADOT (Beaune) -- 2016 Part IV: Côte de Nuits Grand Cru Wines Tasted from Barrel

Background on the vintage at Jadot is located here.

Understand that in 2016, yields in Chambolle-Musigny were tiny. But for those lucky enough to obtain some of these wines:

2016 Chambolle-Musigny    1er Cru   Les Amoureuses   (Domaine Louis Jadot)
This wine is nothing short of magnificent. It is steely and pure with red fruits and elegance — an ideal of Amoureuses. (94-98)

2016 Bonnes-Mares   (Domaine Louis Jadot)
As difficult as it is to top the Amoureuses, the Bonnes-Mares seems to do it. The wine is elegant and smooth with pure dark fruits, lightness on the palate, and length — a classic. (95-98)

2016 Musigny   (Domaine Louis Jadot)
And then there is the Musigny. The wine shows dark fruits that are pure Musigny with the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove, and it floats above the tongue. It is an etherial wine.  (96-99)

2016 Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze   (Domaine Louis Jadot)
The Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze has deep violet and mineral aromas and flavors and is pure and sleek. This appears to be yet another great wine in the making. (95-98)

2016 Charmes-Chambertin
Made from purchased grapes that Jadot vinified, the Charmes-Chambertin shows finesse and a medium-light body with red fruits, making for a good wine from this vineyard.  (92-95)

2016 Chapelle-Chambertin   (Domaine Louis Jadot)
The Chapelle-Chambertin has a fine texture with dark fruits and minerality. Interestingly, the wine does not have as much tension as the Gevrey-Petite Chapelle from Jadot. (93-96)

2016 Echézeaux    (Domaine Louis Jadot)
The Echézeaux has dark fruits and salinity. It is sensual and airy with good purity. (92-96)

2016 Clos Saint-Denis   (Domaine Gagey)
This wine has red fruits and spice typical of the vineyard. It is pure and light with just a touch of earthiness. In most vintages, Jadot also has a négociant Clos Saint-Denis, but I did not get a chance to taste it in 2016. (92-95)
