I’ve mentioned breathtaking wines, and indeed there were some in the Nahe, but the Wonnegau begins another dimension.

Brüder Dr. BECKER

2021 (Dienheim) Falkenberg Riesling GG

Floral, but on the palate lacks the tightness of structure and the complexity that the Tafelstein has. 90(+)/B+

2021 (Dienheim) Tafelstein Riesling GG

Pure, intense, deep limestone in nose and mouth with good white fruits and roundness. 96/A+

K. F. GROEBE

2021 (Westhofen) Aulerde Riesling GG

OMG! Pure, stony, chiseled aroma, maybe a touch of nutshell. Medium-weight, sculpted, pure, deep, harmonious, long, deep. 96(+)/A+

2021 (Westhofen) Kirchspiel Riesling GG

Dusty, pure nose; clear, firm mouth with some roundness, great precision and depth. 97/A+

2016 (Westhofen) Kirchspiel Riesling Grande Réserve   (auction wine)

Pure, intense, penetrating, with the noble austerity from the limestone. 94/A

2021 (Westhofen) Kirchspiel Riesling Kabinett  (auction wine)

Virtually dry (despite 56 g/l residual sugar — that’s the effect of the acidity to balance it off). Pure, light, energetic, penetrating. 7.5º alcohol. 94/A+

WITTMANN

2021 (Westhofen) Aulerde Riesling GG

Dusty, stony nose. Pure with lime and lemon fruits, sculpted structure, a bit of dust. 95/A+

2021 (Westhofen) Kirchspiel Riesling GG

Pure, some white fruits, long, deep, sculpted, nobly austere, a great limestone expression. 96/A+
