I expect the 2021 rosé is rare, but don't miss it if you should come across it.
2020 Bandol rosé
This is classic Tempier rosé, medium-weight with mineral fruit and depth. Also typical of Tempier rosé, this wine will be better and more harmonious if you cellar it for a few years. Cork closure.13.5% stated alcohol. Lot LS 20 05 01. 90(+)/A
2021 Bandol rosé
My first experience drinking Tempier rosé was about forty years ago, and I can tell you as one who regularly sampled each new release, this is easily the finest I can remember. Usually, it takes a couple of years for the wine to begin to open up, but this one features intense, well-defined wild strawberry fruit, very good acidic support, and plenty of nervosity in a medium-light body. Cork closure. 13% stated alcohol. Lot LS 21 04 11. 93/A+
2018 Bandol rouge
From a challenging vintage, this wine isn’t at the level of 2011 or 2016, but it is a great success, nonetheless. The wine features dark Mourvèdre fruit with a sensual texture in a medium-weight body. It drinks well already. Cork closure. 14% stated alcohol. Lot LR 18 08 11. 91/A-
2019 Bandol rouge
It’s really hard to give an opinion on this wine. On the one hand, it is quite delicious, and on that deliciousness alone, worthy of a score of 92 or 93. On the other hand, I find very little of Tempier and even Bandol in this wine. There’s plenty of dark cherry fruit here, a round body, a velvet texture, and medium-plus weight. My experience with Tempier in the past is that the wines have a very, very long aging potential, yet, this wine is so forward that I’d opt for drinking it young. Cork closure. 14% stated alcohol.
