Domaine Louis BOILLOT & Fils (Chambolle-Musigny) -- 2018 Part II: Côte de Nuits Tasted from Barrel

My introduction to the vintage at Boillot is here.

2018 Fixin
Dark fruits, finesse, light on tongue, some tannins. Picked at the end of the harvest, around 5 or 6 September. (88-90)

2018 Côte de Nuits-Villages
Dark fruits, elegant, fresh, pure, some tannins. (88-90)

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin
Perfumed dark fruit aromas. Mouth is round with ripe tannins and ripe dark fruits. Long. (90-93)

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin   Evocelles
Dark fruits, more minerality than regular Gevrey; freshness, structure, some spice. (91-94)

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin    1er Cru   Les Champonnets
Mineral and fresh red and dark fruits, purity depth, balance. Harvested on next-to-last day. (92-95)

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin    Les Cherbaudes
Spicy nose with dark fruits. Spicy, dark fruits in mouth, pure, energetic, relatively ripe fruit, but still fresh. (92-95)

2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Les Pruliers
Boillot’s Pruliers is always a great wine, and that certainly is the case here. The vineyard suffered a little from the hail -- about 5-10%, and Louis thinks that was enough to stress the vines and give more energy in 2018. The nose and mouth have intense, mineral dark fruits, old vine smoothness of texture, freshness, and depth. From 90 year-old vines. After 2020, 5 of the 26 ares will be ripped out for replanting. (94-96)

2018 Chambolle-Musigny
Pure, dark fruits, long, smooth, and fresh. A beautiful wine with layered textures. (91-93)
