Domaine Jean-Jacques CONFURON (Prémeaux-Prissey) -- 2016 Tasted from Bottle

My review of the Confuron wines from barrel 2016 is here. The vintage was very small in quantity, but is showing extremely well qualitatively.

2016 Chambolle-Musigny
The nose is dominated by cassis aromas that continue in the mouth with purity and minerality. In the mouth, the wine is gentle with structure from round tannins. The wine shows excellent tension and depth. You can drink the wine now for its fruit, but with another 12-15 years in the cellar, it should be even better (there may well be a prolonged closed period in the interim).  92/A

2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges     1er Cru   Aux Boudots
The Nuits-Boudots has dark fruit aromas with minerality and salinity. In the mouth, the wine is medium weight with good length and tannins to go with finesse and purity. This wine is already closing down, as I think will happen with most 2016s — I would not advise current drinking, but the potential for the patient is a superb bottle. 94/A

2016 Romanée-Saint-Vivant
The Romanée-Saint-Vivant  is deep in the nose with spices and iodide showing. The mouth has Saint-Vivant sensuality but tannins are present, along with fruit and spices. This is a wine of great potential, but expect to wait twenty years to appreciate its full potential. 96/A
