Domaine Jean GRIVOT (Vosne-Romanée) -- 2018 Part III: Grands Crus Tasted from Barrel; and Some 2017s Tasted from Bottle

Please see my introduction to the vintage at Grivot here.

2018 Clos de Vougeot
Perfumed black raspberry nose. Mouth has dense, pure black raspberry and other dark fruits, good precision, finesse. Proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove.  (94-96)

2018 Echézeaux
Pure, beautiful, spicy, complex nose. Mouth is dense, intense, sensual pure and long with Vosne spice dark fruits. Freshness. (95-97)

2018 Richebourg
Spiced dark plum nose. Excellent minerality in mouth with spiced dark plum fruit, depth, harmony. (95-97)

Below are several 2017s tasted from bottle. My notes on all the 2017s tasted from barrel are here.

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er cru   Les Pruliers
Medium-weight. Not the dimension of the 2018, but very pure dark plum fruit, fresh.  93/A

2017 Vosne-Romanée     1er Cru    Les Beaux Monts
Beautiful light texture with minerality, violets, purple fruits, and overall finesse. 94(+)/A

2017 Echézeaux
More weight and density but not as open as the Beaux Monts. Dark fruits, spice — it’s all there, but still needs time to come together. 95/A
