Domaine Jean GRIVOT (Vosne-Romanée) -- 2015 Tasted from Bottle

(Combining two posts originally published 12 August 2018 and 24 November 2017.)

My notes on tasting Grivot’s 2015s from barrel samples is here.

2015 Vosne-Romanée
Still somewhat reduced in the nose, the mouth is smooth with dark fruits. It’s a wine to see again with a little more time in bottle. 90/A

2015 Vosne-Romanée   Bossières
Bossières is an old-vine parcel that Grivot keeps separate from the regular village Vosne-Romanée. The nose is floral and perfumed. The wine is light on the palate with floral red fruits and good length. 91/A

2015 Vosne-Romanée     1er Cru   Les Beaux Monts
Grivot’s Vosne-Beaux Monts is dense with red and dark fruits, good length, and some chewiness. This wine has already begun to close and should need 12-15 years in the cellar to reach its peak. 93+/A

2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru  Aux Boudots
Grivot’s Nuits-Boudots is smooth with pure dark fruits and a bit of earth that is typical. This is an excellent expression of the Boudots vineyard. 2015 was the last vintage before Grivot tore out half his Boudots vines for replanting, so this bottling will be somewhat rarer in the near-to-medium future.  94/A

2015 Clos-de-Vougeot

The Clos-de-Vougeot is sensual, smooth, and deep with dark and red fruits and outstanding depth. It's a wine that needs plenty of time — 15 years at least, though.  95+/A
