Domaine Jean GRIVOT (Vosne-Romané): 2018 Part II: Premier Cru Wines Tasted from Barrel

Please see my introduction to the vintage at Grivot here.

2018 Vosne-Romanée      1er Cru    Les Rouges
Rouges is considered one of the lesser premiers crus in Vosne, but one that consistently provides me pleasure for its lightness and finesse. This wine has good density, dark and red fruits, freshness, and length. (91-93)

2018 Vosne-Romanée     1er Cru    Les Chaumes
Dark, pure, a bit sappy in a good way, medium-weight, and shows a bit of finesse. (91-93)

In Roncières and Pruliers, the hail damage was limited to about 10%:

2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Les Roncières
Harvested on 16 September. Dark fruit, mint, good concentration, power, and weight on the tongue, but the tannins are round. (91-94)

2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru    Les Pruliers
Dense dark fruits, good penetration, power, round tannins, no lack of freshness, even though this is the wine in the cellar that has the highest alcohol. (92-95)

2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges     1er Cru   Aux Boudots
Lovely, pure Boudots earthiness, light on the palate, fresh, long, dark fruits. (92-95)

2018 Vosne-Romanée    1er Cru    Aux Brulées
A bit of violets with red fruits in the nose. In the mouth, violets and minerality, dark fruits, some power. Lively and balanced. (93-95)

2018 Vosne-Romanée     1er Cru     Les Beaux Monts
Pure. Darker fruit than Brulées, mineral, more finesse, very good liveliness. Long.  (93-96)

2018 Vosne-Romanée     1er Cru   Les Suchots
Dark fruit, dense, slightly truffly as is typical of Suchots, intense, balanced (94-96)

2018 Vosne-Romanée    1er Cru   Aux Reignots
Dark fruit, ripe, pure, round, but with finesse. (92-95)
