My notes on the 2017s tasted from barrel at Mugneret-Gibourg are here.
As is evident from these notes compared to my previous post, 2017 is a vintage at this estate more to my style than 2018.
2017 Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Fresh and pure red and dark berries, nice precision, good length, medium-weight, and finesse overall. 89(+)/A
2017 Vosne-Romanée
Fresh dark berries, smooth texture, finesse, medium-weight, good intensity and depth. 91+/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes
Chipped stone aromas. The mouth is pure with minerality, dark berries, freshness, precision, and finesse. It is an outstanding job from this vineyard which is often overshadowed by its neighbors Murgers and Chaignots. 93/A
2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots
The Chaignots has stoniness and spice in the nose. The mouth is very precise and fresh with dark berries, medium weight, lightness on the tongue, and ripe tannins. 93+/A
2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes
Purity, dark fruits, Chambolle finesse, length, freshness — what more could one ask for? 94/A
2017 Echézeaux
The Echézeaux is spicy in the nose, followed by sensuality with deep dark fruits, precision, length, and a silky texture. 95/A
2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin
Mugneret-Gibourg’s Ruchottes-Chambertin has typical stony minerality in the nose. The mouth is stony yet sensual with dark fruit, minerality, precision, and depth. 95/A
2017 Clos-Vougeot
Last, the Clos-Vougeot shows purity in its black and red raspberry fruit, length, quality tannins, and depth. An outstanding representative of this vineyard that does not deserve its status as less fashionable than in other eras. 95/A
