Vougeraie began production with the 1999 vintage, and in 2001 began its conversion to biodynamics. In addition to being biodynamic, all wines are certified organic.

The 2022s are a great success, especially at the upper appellations.

Maximum new oak for both reds and whites is 20%. Alcohols are around 13%, with the maximum being 13.5% for the Charmes-Chambertin (not tasted here).

2022 Pommard   Les Petits Noizons

Violets in the nose. The mouth has dark friuts, purity, a silky texture, and a good tannic structure. Entirely destemmed. (89-91)

2022 Chassagne-Montrachet   1er Cru   Morgeot  Clos de la Chapelle

This is a new monopole for Vougeraie, purchased in 2021, consisting of 4.57ha overall, of which 0.98 is planted in Pinot Noir. Average age of the vines is 60 years. Entirely destemmed. The wine is quite fruity and delicious with ebullient, fresh, juicy dark fruits and a silky texture. (90-92)

2022 Savigny-les-Beaune    1er Cru   Les Marconnets

This wine round but less so than the Chassagne-Morgeot; it is more nervy and mineral though, with clear fruit, making for a good contrast in style and a very good expression of the terroir. All fruit destemmed here. (90-92)

2022 Gevrey-Chambertin   Les Evocelles

From a vineyard in Brochon often recognized as being of premier cru quality, the Evocelles has white pepper aromas. The white pepper continues into the mouth and there is a silky texture and some spiciness. The wine is rather calm today — often Evocelles can be quite wild. 20% whole clusters. (91-94)

2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges   1er Cru   Clos de Thorey

Vougeraie has two parcels from this outstanding and underrated vineyard; one (1.5 ha) has 60 year-old vines, the other (1.05 ha) 11 year-old vines. The nose here is deep and earthy. The mouth is intense, deep, and pure with dark fruit that is precise, fresh, and complex. Some violets, too. (93-96)

2022 Clos de Vougeot

The Clos de Vougeot is smooth, elegant, and long with red and dark fruits and a velvet texture that is tongue-coating. The wine has the finesse of the vintage that civilizes Clos de Vougeot, making for a very pretty wine. Vougeraie has a total of 1.05 ha, one parcel facing the château, and another down below by the Ponnelle gate. They are harvested and raised separately. The upper parcel was 40% whole cluster. (95-97)

2022 Bonnes-Mares

The Bonnes-Mares has a magnificent nose of roses and truffles. The mouth is quite complex with fruit and truffles. It is long, intense, and precise. In short, this is a great Bonnes-Mares. Vougeraie has three parcels, comprising 0.70 ha, all on terres blanches (white soils); these give more finesse than the terres rouges (red soils) that are also part of the Bonnes-Mares vineyard and give more power. (96-98)

2022 Musigny

The equally superb Musigny has a deep nose with dark fruits. In the mouth, the wine is airy and light with fine berry fruit, a silky texture, great finesse, laciness, and overall sphericity. The vines are in the Grandes Musigny. All whole cluster here. (96-98)
