My introduction to the 2018 vintage at Pousse d’Or is here.
2018 Santenay 1er Cru Clos Tavannes
Mineral red fruits, medium-weight body, dense, almost chewy. (89-91)
2018 Volnay 1er Cru Clos d’Audignac
Red fruits. Cherries, vanilla, mineral. (90-93)
2018 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d’Or
Rounder, richer, more sensual than the Clos d’Audignac. Dark fruits, medium weight. (91-94)
2018 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Clos des 60 Ouvrées
Finesse, red fruits, good precision. (92-94)
2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Jarollières
Red and dark sorbet fruit. Bigger body than the Volnays but still with finesse. Soft tannins. (92-95)
2018 Corton-Bressandes
Red fruits, sweetness from fruit, finesse, medium-light body. (92-94)
2018 Corton-Clos du Roi
Darker fruit than Bressandes, more power. Good depth, freshness, and tannins. (93-95)
The wines aged in amphore:
2018 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d’Or Amphore
Dark fruits, still primary, pure, great freshness. (92-95)
2018 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Clos des 60 Ouvrées Amphore
Dark fruits, freshness, medium-weight, finesse. (92-95)
My limited experience with the wines from bottle is that the amphore wines develop more slowly and at least initially do not show as much terroir.
The whites (there are now two, from two of the most regal appellations in Burgundy):
2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Le Cailleret
Pure, crisp, precise, lightness, depth, lemon and hazelnuts. Superb. (93-96)
2018 Chevalier-Montrachet
Some sucrosity, minerality, some citric elements. Much more difficult to judge at this stage than the Cailleret. (92-95)
