Domaine David DUBAND/François FEUILLET (Chevannes) -- 2017 Tasted from Barrel Samples

You may find some of these wines under the Francçois Feuillet label; they are the same as those under the David Duband label — Feuillet owns the land for those wines and Duband sharecrops.

Organically farmed.

2017 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir  Cuvée Louis Auguste
Strawberry nose. Smooth, light, strawberry fruit. (85-87)

2017 Côtes de Nuits Village
From Brochon. Smooth, firmer, more concentration and structure, good depth, strawberry fruits. (86-89)

2017 Chambolle-Musigny
Elegant, strawberry fruit, smooth, light. (86-89)

2017 Vosne-Romanée
Smooth, somewhat darker fruit although still strawberries, easy, likable. More structure than the Chambolle. From Barreaux and Ormes lieux-dits. (87-90)

2017 Gevrey-Chambertin
(Primarily from the northern part of the appellation — 80% from Brochon).  Strawberry and other red fruits, medium-weight, quite relaxed, not the usual tension of this sector of Gevrey. (86-88)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges
Darker fruit, firmer, deeper, more freshness than in the Gevrey. (88-90)

2017 Morey-St-Denis  1er Cru    Broc*
Darker fruit mixed with red, good structure, smooth, density, medium concentration. We’ve moved to another quality level with this wine. * Broc is not on the label in the U.S.; the wine comes from the Blanchard, Ruchots, Ormes, and Cheseaux vineyards. (90-92)

2017 Morey-Saint-Denis   1er Cru  Clos Sorbè
More freshness here, red fruits, a little dark, some tannins, but are round. Medium weight. Plenty of charm here.  (91-93)

2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges  Aux Thorey
Dark plum fruit, some spice, smooth, but with tannins, but still approachable now. (90-93)

2017 Chambolle-Musigny  1er Cru  Les Sentiers
Somewhat sappy texture, smooth, dark plum jam (but not jammy). Approachable. good freshness. (91-93)

2017 Echézeaux  Rouges du Bas
Good freshness, dark plum fruit, some spice, good purity, freshness.  (92-95)

2017 Clos de la Roche
Red and dark fruits, medium weight, not the tension for Clos de la Roche (which is true for almost all the 2017s I tasted from the vineyard), but enjoyable. (91-93)

2017 Charmes-Chambertin
From Mazoyères. Some dark fruit, good length, smooth, round, some freshness. (92-94)

2017 Latricières-Chambertin
Dark and red fruit, good energy, medium-weight, good density, round tannins. (92-95)

2017 Chambertin
Good freshness, red fruits, not a blockbuster; subtle the way Chambertin can sometimes be. A bit stretched, perhaps, but still good. (92-94)
