Domaine Bruno CLAVELIER (Vosne-Romanée) -- 2018 Part II: Premier and Grand Cru Wines Tasted from Barrel Samples

Please see here for my introduction of the 2018 vintage at the estate.

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin   1er Cru   Les Corbeaux
Red fruits, mineral, energetic, nervy, fresh. Medium-light on the palate. (92-94)

2018 Vosne-Romanée    1er Cru   Les Brulées
Fresh dark fruit aromas. Dark fruits in the mouth are also fresh. Purity, medium-light body, finesse, length, silky texture. Vines are about 70 years-old. Pebbles on ground allow for fast reheating of the vineyard. (92-94)

2018 Vosne-Romanée    1er Cru   Les Beaux Monts
Pure, precise, ethereal. Violets, lots of finesse, length, spiciness, complexity. An outstanding wine. Vines are about 70 years-old. (92-95)

2018 Chambolle-Musigny   1er Cru   Les Noirots
Blood orange and dark fruits, great finesse, lightness, and length. (92-95)

2018 Chambolle-Musigny    1er Cru   La Combe d’ Orveaux
As good as the preceding wines were, this is just spectacular. Dark fruits that fall on the tongue in layers; depth, purity, and harmony. (94-96)

2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges    1er Cru   Aux Cras
Equally great is Clavelier’s Nuits-Cras. Dark fruits in the nose. Great complexity and elegance in the mouth with layered red fruits, some spice, and lightness on the tongue. 85 year-old vines. (94-96)

2018 Corton   Le Rognet
The Corton makes a fitting closer. The wine has finesse for Corton and is very seductive in its silky texture. Depth is excellent, there is good concentration and length to the stony dark fruits, power, and more tannin than in the foregoing wines. (94-97)
