My introduction to the 2018 vintage at Arnoux-Lachaux is here.
2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Procès
Spicy red fruit aromas. The mouth is deep with spicy dark fruits, intensity, length, elegance, and a silky texture. No hail here in 2018. 50 year-old vines. (92-95)
2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes
Dark fruits, spicy, pure, deep, long, intense, good richness, overall finesse. (92-94)
2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets
Spicy dark fruits in nose and mouth. There was some hail here which is evident by the unusual concentration in the wine, but it is still balanced and shows finesse. (92-95)
2018 Clos-de-Vougeot
Silky texture, light on palate, typical raspberry fruit, long. (93-95)
2018 Echézeaux Les Rouges
Darker fruit than the Clos-de-Vougeot, silky texture, intense, touch of licorice; penetration, drive, depth, sensuality, finesse. Potentially a great Echézeaux. To my knowledge, the Rouges climat has not previously appeared on the label. (94-97)
2018 Latricières-Chambertin
Dark fruits, nervy, energetic, plenty of substance, depth, length. Almost has laciness. Potentially a great Latricières. (94-97)
2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Grands Suchots
Note the addition of “Grands” to Suchots; Arnoux-Lachaux’s parcel is at the very top tip of the vineyard and claimed by some to be the finest parcel in Suchots. Very floral nose. In mouth, dark fruits, pure, intense, deep, spicy, focused. (94-97)
2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots
Spicy, intense, pure dark fruits in nose. Dark fruits, purity, length, intense, no edges. The location of this vineyard just above La Romanée and Arnoux-Lachaux’s possession of the best parcel are both evident in this wine. (95-97)
2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant
Spicy dark fruits, sensual, pure, long, fantastic depth, silky texture. A great Romanée-Saint-Vivant. (96-98)
