Domaine Albert MOROT (Beaune) -- A Selection of 2020, 2019, and 2018 from Bottle

This organic estate (certified since 2015) is known by Burgundy fans as a producer of quality wines at attractive prices. All wines below are red except for the Savigny-les-Beaune.

2020 Beaune   1er Cru  Les Aigrots

Unlike the other red wines here, this one was completely destemmed. The wine is concentrated, but shows finesse with intense, ripe dark fruits. All is in balance, but it is clear that this is a wine from a hot vintage (not my preferred style). 89/B

2020 Beaune   1er Cru  Les Teurons

There’s more lift and freshness here than in the Aigrots, probably due to the 20% whole clusters. There are ripe dark fruits with an airiness, length, and good balance. 91/A-

2019 Beaune   1er Cru   Bressandes

Another hot vintage, this wine is ripe and round. If that’s your style, go for it. About 13.5% alcohol. 89/B

2019 Beaune   1er Cru   Les Teurons

Chipped stone aromas, the mouth here shows more freshness than its 2020 counterpart with depth and stoniness to its dark fruits. 92/A

2018 Beaune   1er Cru   Les Marconnets

This wine is ripe with a velvet texture to its dark fruit. It shows power and richness, but is also somewhat simple the way wines from Marconnets always seem to be. 89+/B

2020 Savigny-les-Beaune   1er Cru   La Bataillère   blanc

La Battaillère is in the Vergelesses vineyard. The wine is intense and concentrated with ripe, but not overripe, fruit and it shows good energy. It still needs a few years in the bottle to show its best. 89/B
