Interesting wines that can be found for not much money. My first experience with this producer.
Whites:
2020 Bourgogne-Aligoté
This is an excellent Aligoté in the old-fashioned style with bracing acidity, firmness, and citric fruits. Drink over the next year or two (back label says that it can age 6-8 years). Synthetic closure. 12% stated alcohol. Lot L01422A BAligote. 90/A
2020 Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre Chardonnay
This is an acceptable but rather anonymous Chardonnay with some apple fruit, a medium-weight body, and no real depth. Synthetic closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Lot L0522X CAuxB. 86/B
2020 Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy
This is an attractive Chablis for not a lot of money. It is lemony with a smooth, elegant texture in a medium-weight body. The wine is partially raised in wood. I’m unable to discern whether the closure is treated cork or a type of agglomerate cork that I have not previously encountered. 13% stated alcohol. Lot L01522P CH1Beau. 90/B+
2020 Saint-Bris Sauvignon
This is an attractive racy, nervy, somewhat austere Sauvignon Blanc with chalky grapefruit aromas and flavors. Synthetic closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Lot L21221S StBris. 89/A-
Reds:
2020 Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre rouge
You’re not going to get terroir here or any great complexity, but this is a very good Pinot Noir with dark fruits, minerality, and freshness, plus good acidic support. You can find many a Côte d’Or premier and grand cru that is not as good as this wine. Synthetic closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Lot L33521X CotesAux. 87/A-
2019 Irancy
Irancy, in Northern Burgundy, is allowed to be made from César as well as Pinot Noir, and the back label indicates that this wine is 5% César. Smooth and round with slightly spicy red fruits, this is a wine of elegance even if not great sophistication. I’d drink the wine over the next 3-5 years, but the back label says it can age up to ten. Cork closure. 13% stated alcohol. Lot L03021F IranFut. 87/B+
