Domaines HUMBERT Frères (Gevrey-Chambertin), Pierre NAIGEON (Gevrey-Chambertin), Henri RICHARD (Gevrey-Chambertin), and TAUPENOT-MERME (Morey-Saint-Denis) -- 2018 Tasted from Barrel Samples

These are attractive wines, especially for a tricky vintage.

HUMBERT Frères

2018 Gevrey-Chambertin   1er Cru   Poissenot
Smooth texture, light on palate, finesse, purity, dark fruits, elegant. (91-93)

2018 Charmes-Chambertin
Medium-weight, dark fruits, some acidity and energy but wine is still quite unformed. (92-93)

Pierre NAIGEON

2018 Charmes-Chambertin
Dark fruits, minerality, good acidity for the vintage, but hasn’t come together yet. (91-93?)

Henri RICHARD

2018 Mazoyères-Chambertin
Dark fruits, minerality, some Mazoyères gaminess, smooth texture, medium weight. Good job. (92-94)

TAUPENOT-MERME

2018 Mazoyères-Chambertin
Dark fruits, slightly gamy as is typical of Mazoyères, medium-weight. Good acidity and freshness, but lacking the differentiation of still better wines. (91-93)

2018 Charmes-Chambertin
Dark fruits, smooth texture, moderate acidity; lacks the precision of still better wines. (91-93)
