More modest wines from the renowned 2021 vintage are showing well and worth your investigation.

KAMPTAL

Schlosskellerei GOBELSBURG

2021 Grüner Veltliner

Slight minerality in a medium-full body with a bit of bite and a touch of residual sugar on the finish. This is good, serviceable, but not better than that, Grüner Veltliner. Screw cap closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Lot LN 0205/22. 88/B

KREMSTAL

MALAT

2021 Furth, Kremstal Grüner Veltliner

This is a classic Grüner Veltliner with purity, clarity, salinity, minerality, and lightness on the palate. A touch of citrus on the finish. Screw cap closure. 12% stated alcohol. Lot L: N2236/22. 90/A-

2021 Pelt, Kremstal Ried Höhlgraben Grüner Veltliner

Purity, clarity, and lightness, with good acidity, this is a dancing wine that is so versatile for food matchings and such a pleasure to drink. Screw cap closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Lot L: N12721/22.  92/A

2021 Furth, Kremstal   Riesling

The Furth Riesling is creamy in texture, medium-weight, and has some minerality. The acidity is moderate, so I’d serve this cool (although not chilled). It’s a pleasant enough wine, but no real individuality here, not surprising for its village level appellation. Screw cap closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. L L:N2214/22. 87/B
