2021 and 2020 Wiener Gemischter Satz ÖTW Erste Lage from Ried Falkenberg, Ried Gollin, Ried Himmel, Ried Langteufel from Edlmoser, Fuhrgassl-Huber, Mayer am Pfarrplatz,Rotes Haus, and Wieninger

 

Perhaps historically the most typical wine of Vienna is the Wiener Gemischter Satz. It now must be made of at least three different grapes with no more than 50% being of one grape and less than 10% being of any grape. There are some stunning wines to be had here.




EDLMOSER


2020 (Maurerberg) Ried Himmel Wiener Gemischter Satz

Ripe, round, full-bodied, minerality, incipient peach. Screw cap closure. 93/A




FUHRGASSL-HUBER


2021 (Nussberg) Ried Gollin Wiener Gemischter Satz

Floral nose. Light body, acidity gives firmness. A bit of white fruit showing. Screw cap closure. 13.5% stated alcohol. 89(+)/B+

2021 (Nussberg) Ried Langteufel Wiener Gemischter Satz 

Floral nose typical of limestone soils, which we have here. Medium-light weight, firm, intense, limestone austerity, lime citric fruit. Screw cap closure. 14% stated alcohol. 94/A+




ROTES HAUS


2021 (Nussberg) Ried Langteufel Wiener Gemischter Satz 

Lime aromas and flavors, round texture, medium-light, but perhaps not the definition of a still better wine. Screw cap closure. 14% stated alcohol. 89/B+




WIENINGER



2021 (Bisamberg) Ried Falkenberg Wiener Gemischter Satz

Round, some minerality, yellow fruits, good acidity. Glass closure. 90/A-
