2021 and 2020 Rheingau Riesling GG Part VI: Berg Rottland, Kaiserfels, Rosengarten from Johannishof, Künstler, Leitz, and Ress

With the exception of Johannishof, a very disappointing set of wines.

JOHANNISHOF

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Rottland Riesling GG

Good depth and intensity, especially for the vintage; some minerality, some creaminess of texture. Not a wine of strong personality, but one that touches all the bases. 92/A

KÜNSTLER

2021 (Rüdesheim) Berg Rottland Riesling GG

Medium-light in weight, not much expression of fruit. Not a fully convincing wine at this moment. 88?/B-

LEITZ

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Rottland Riesling GG

Floral, mineral nose. Light on palate with some breadth. Some minerality, but not very deep or expressive. 89/B

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Kaiserfels Riesling GG

Creamy, moderate acidity, lightly mineral fruit. 87/C

2020 (Rüdesheim) Rosengarten Riesling GG

Light in body and rather washed out in the mouth. 87/C

Balthasar RESS

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Rottland Riesling GG

Impure nose; medium-light, some creaminess of texture, some spice, but not very characteristic of Berg Rottland. 86/D
