2021 and 2020 Rheingau Riesling GG Part VII: Berg Schlossberg and Berg Roseneck from Kloster Eberbach, Künstler, Leitz, and Prinz

More disappointments from the western Rheingau, with Prinz and Künstler as exceptions.

KLOSTER EBERBACH

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Roseneck Riesling GG

Medium-weight, round, medium-light intensity and breadth, some minerality. An elegant wine. 88/B-

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG

Light in weight, elegant, some citric fruit, but doesn’t make a great impression. 89/B

KÜNSTLER

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Roseneck Riesling GG

Floral notes, good intensity. Round, depth, breadth, intensity, adequate acidity — very good for vintage in this location. 90/B+

2021 (Rüdesheim) Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG

Some concentration, some orange peel, good acidity, but overall impression is disappointing. 86(+)/D

LEITZ

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Roseneck Riesling GG

Lightly perfumed nose. Medium-light weight, some minerality, but not a lot of precision, definition, or intensity. 87/B-

2020 (Rüdesheim) Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG

Lightly mineral but somewhat washed-out. 86/D

PRINZ

2021 (Rüdesheim) Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG

Crisp, pure, light, some incisiveness, some minerality. 90/B+
