Now we begin the exploration of Forst, the Pfalz’s equivalent of Vosn-Romanée in Burgundy. All are excellent Ungeheurs, but Mosbacher and von Bassermann-Jordan have made two of the greatest Rieslings of the vintage (or any other).

ACHAM-MAGIN

2021 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG

Light, pure, clear, elegant. 93(+)/A

Geheimer Rat Dr. von BASSERMANN-JORDAN

2021 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG

Rose and white peach nose. White and yellow peach skin, elegant, intense, layered, pure, and so long in the mouth. 96+/A+

Reichsrat von BUHL

2020 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG

High acid, wiry, nervy, intense, but still closed, although some yellow peach skin. There is potential here, but at the same time, the reductive nature of the winemaking hides the Ungeheuer expression at this young age. 93+/A

Dr. BÜRKLIN-WOLF

2021 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG

Clear, light, elegant, white and yellow peach. 93/A

Georg MOSBACHER

2021 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG

Pure, precise, layered, clear, elegant, yellow peach with a touch of rose, long. 97/A+
