Next, we move to Deidesheim, which is to Riesling in the Pfalz what Chambolle-Musigny is to Pinot Noir in the Côte d’Or, with tender, seductive wines.

Geheimer Rat Dr. von BASSERMANN-JORDAN

2021 (Deidesheim) Grainhübel Riesling GG

Floral, rose nose. Light, pure, elegant, long, precise. 95/A+

2021 (Deidesheim) Hohenmorgen Riesling GG

Pure, elegant, balanced, long, round, medium-light. Subtle white fruits. 95/A+

2021 (Deidesheim) Kalkofen Riesling GG

White fruits, elegant, pure, long, finesse. 93/A

Reichsrat von BUHL

2020 (Deidesheim) Kieselberg Riesling GG

Slightly underripe white fruits, plenty of acidity, energetic, but not the completeness one finds in the 2021s for Deidesheim. 92/A

Dr. BÜRKLIN-WOLF

2021 (Dedesheim) Langenmorgen Riesling GG

The elegance of Deidesheim, purity, finesse, length, white fruits, complete equilibrium. Breathtaking. 96/A+

2021 (Deidesheim) Hohenmorgen Riesling GG

Reductive nose. Peach skin flavors, deep, but not as broad as some of the other B-W’s. Needs time. 92+/A

Georg MOSBACHER

2021 (Deidesheim) Kieselberg Riesling GG

Nutshell aromas with peach and honeysuckle underneath. Round with great underlying acidic support, pure, clear, intense, balanced. 96/A+

2021 (Deidesheim) Langenmorgen Riesling GG

Rounder, less linear than the Bürklin-Wolf’s Langenmorgen, but just as fascinating and pure. With great peach fruit. 96/A+
