2020 Pfalz Grosses Gewächs Riesling Part IV (Grainhübel, Kalkofen, Kieselberg, Langenmorgen from Bassermann-Jordan, Bürklin-Wolf. Mosbacher, Siben)

The greatness of Deidesheim, the Pfalz’s equivalent of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte d’Or, continues with these wines.

Geheimer Rat Dr. von BASSERMANN-JORDAN

2020 (Deidesheim) Grainhübel Riesling GG

Elegant, pure nectarine and apricot, great finesse and precision. Drinks well already. 93+/A

2020 (Deidesheim) Kalkofen Riesling GG

Acidic, even tart, for the moment, and austere, but there is depth here and this wine just needs time in bottle to come around. Incipient white peach. Plenty of energy. 92+/A

2020 (Deidesheim) Kieselberg Riesling GG

Nectarine-skin fruit, penetration, elegance, length. Drinks well now. 93+/A

Dr. BÜRKLIN-WOLF

2020 (Deidesheim) Langenmorgen Riesling GG

Elegant and intense with depth to nectarine fruit, density of texture, length. 93(+)/A

Georg MOSBACHER

2020 (Deidesheim) Kieselberg Riesling GG

Intense, round, almost fleshy but still elegant, fine acidity, long nectarine fruit. 93/A

2020 (Deidesheim) Langenmorgen Riesling GG

Fruity, expressive, energetic, rich peach fruit, outstanding depth and length. A very complete wine. 94(+)/A

Georg SIBEN Erben

2020 (Deidesheim) Grainhübel Riesling GG

Oh-so-complex peach, nectarine, and apricot fruit; precise and pure in an elegant body. 92+/A

2020 (Deidesheim) Kieselberg Riesling GG

Elegant, pure, pear and nectarine fruit, very clear. 93/A

2020 (Deidesheim) Langenmorgen Riesling GG

Good fruitiness, elegant, not the density or depth of some, but very pleasant. For drinking in 2-10 years. 91+/A-
