2020 Nahe Grosses Gewächs Riesling Part III (Brücke, Felsenberg, Hermannshöhle, and Kupfergrube from Crusius, Dönnhoff, Gut Hermannsberg, and Schäfer-Fröhlich)

This sector of the Nahe is always interesting because there are four top producers of Felsenberg.

Dr. CRUSIUS

Further inconsistency from Crusius in this vintage — an excellent Felsenberg, a diappointing Kupfergrube.

2020 Schlössböckelheim Felsenberg Riesling GG

Elegant peach aromas and flavors, medium-light body, good length. 93/A

2020 Schlossböckelheim Kupfergrube Riesling GG

Impression of sweetness on the palate, apple fruit, power, big-boned wine. Rustic, even. 88/B-

H. DÖNNHOFF

2020 (Oberhausen) Brücke Riesling GG  auction wine

Pure peach nose, hauntingly pure. Elegant, floating in the mouth, deep, and penetrating. 96/A+

2020 Schlossböckelheim Felsenberg Riesling GG

Still rather closed, but medium-light weight, precise, nectarine and apricot skin fruit. Needs a little time. 93+/A

2020 (Niederhausen) Hermannshöhle Riesling GG

Floral nose. Less developed at this point that other Dönnhoffs, also a bit less structure, but good length and a stony minerality. 93/A

GUT HERMANNSBERG

2020 Schlossböckelheim Felsenberg Riesling GG

Medium-light in weight, elegant, long, airy, green plum fruit. 93(+)/A

2020 (Niederhausen) Steinberg Riesling GG

Mineral, pure, medium-weight, precise, penetrating. 93(+)/A

SCHÄFER-FRÖHLICH

2020 (Schlossböckelheim) Felsenberg Riesling GG

Medium-weight, power but finesse, too, drive and penetration to mineral apricot fruit. Length. Needs time. 95/A+

2020 (Schlossböckelheim) Kupfergrube

Light, pure, precise, energetic, penetrating, mineral. 94(+)/A
