Somehow, most of the producers here just don’t make Spätburgunder that speaks to me. Dautel is the major exception.

ALDINGER

2020 (Untertürkheim) Gips Marienglas® Spätburgunder GG

Reduced coffee-bean-dominated red fruits in nose and mouth, some tannins, medium-light body. 86(+)/C

2020 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG

Coffee-bean reduction again in the nose, red fruits in mouth, drying tannins. 82/F

BEURER

2019 (Stetten) Mönchberg Öde Halde Spätburgunder GG

Maybe some volatile acidity here (and I’m not terribly sensitive). Dark fruit flavors, round, deep, but not much complexity; rustic. And yet there’s something here. 88/B-

DAUTEL

2019 (Oberstenfeld) Forstberg Spätburgunder GG

Fruity and round with dark fruits, this wine is relatively simple for now but I sense a potential for more complexity. 90+/B+

HEID

2020 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG

Somewhat jammy red fruit nose. Round, somewhat jammy red fruit flavors, banal. 85/D

Rainer SCHNAITMANN

2020 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG

Anonymous dark fruits, medium-light, a bit washed-out, a bit tannic on finish. 84/F
