2020 and 2019 Rheingau Grosses Gewächs Riesling Part III (Hassel, Jungfer, Nussbrunnen, Schönhell, Wisselbrunnen from Barth, A. Eser, Müller, Prinz, Ress, Spreitzer)

Here, I prefer the 2020s to the 2019s, but it could also be because I prefer the producers who showed their 2020s (and whose 2019s I did not taste).

BARTH

2019 (Hattenheim) Hassel Riesling GG

Rich, medium-full, apricot, but a little rustic. 91/A-

August ESER

2020 (Hattenheim) Wisselbrunnen Riesling GG

Dense, pure, mineral, white peach fruit, round, rich. Long with apricot finish. 93/A

Georg MÜLLER Stiftung

2019 (Hallgarten) Jungfer Riesling GG

Plum fruit, but quite closed for now. The power and concentration of 2019, length. 92(+)/A

PRINZ

2020 (Hallgarten) Jungfer Riesling GG

Round, pure, yellow plum with a bit of rose in nose and mouth. Mineral, open, and welcoming. 93/A

2020 (Hallgarten) Schönhell Riesling GG

Pure, round, fruity, some minerality, good energy. 93(+)/A

Balthasar RESS

2019 (Hattenheim) Nussbrunnen Riesling GG

Clear, medium-weight, lacking definition and depth of a better wine, but pleasing for its clarity and apricot fruit. 91/A-

Josef SPREITZER

2020 (Hattenheim) Wisselbrunnen Riesling GG

Dense, pure, mineral, sculpted, excellent energy, penetration, mineral. 94(+)/A
