Schweigen is on the border with Alsace and these producers have some vines in French territory that is allowed to be labelled as German wine.

Friedrich BECKER

2019 (Schweigen) Heydenreich Spätburgunder GG

Good fruit here, but somewhat dusty. Red fruits, penetrating, but tannins present. A wine to cellar. 91+/A-

2019 (Schweigen) KB Spätburgunder GG

Not quite as austere as the Heydenreich, a bit more dark to the red fruits, good penetration. Again, expect to cellar for some time. I believe that this in fact is Becker's wine from the Kammerberg vineyard. 91+/A-

2019 (Schweigen) Sankt Paul Spätburgunder GG

The airiest and most elegant of the three Becker wines here, with red fruits and good purity. But still it needs 5-7 years to its best. 91+/A-

BERNHART

2020 (Schweigen) Sonnenberg RG Spätburgunder GG

Dusty dark fruits in the nose. Medium-light with some hardness, dark fruits, good length. Not generous today, but I can see this wine filling out with age. I believe that this may Becker's wine from the Rädgling vineyard. 89(+)/B

2020 (Schweigen) Sonnenberg KT Spätburgunder GG

Not terribly forthcoming in the nose. Medium-light in body, still some tightness to dark fruits. This wine may ultimately show much better than today. I believe that this may Bernhart's wine from the Kostert vineyard. 87/C

JÜLG

2020 (Schweigen) Kammerberg Spätburgunder GG

Spicy dark fruit nose. Medium-weight with finesse to dark berry fruits, some tannins on finish. 90(+)/B+

2020 (Schweigen) Kostert Spätburgunder GG

Attractive floral nose. Medium-weight body with sensual texture, dark fruits, elegance, length. Good to drink already. 92/A
