As I mentioned in my introduction to the vintage, along with the Rheingau, the middle part of the Pfalz stood out particularly in 2018.
The Pfalz in general compares in many ways to Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, and Forst is the counterpart to Vosne-Romanée in that model. And it doesn’t hurt to have great producers to go with the great terroirs.

Lemon blossom nose. Round, ripe, but with Kirchenstück finesse. Yellow fruits. Some length. 92/A

Beautiful, complex, floral nose - roses and sweet flowers. Yellow fruits, fruity, intense, round, balanced. 93/A
2018 (Forst) Ungeheuer Riesling GG
Apricot and apricot blossom nose. Apricot fruit, medium-weight, dense, intense, but still with finesse. 93/A

Vanillin, cocoanut nose. Firm but elegant with hint cocoanut, otherwise white fruits. 91/A-

Layered fruits, finesse, completeness, some power. But needs time to fill out. 93/A

Intense, deep, pure, apricot and peach fruit, yellow fruits. Elegant, expressive. 93/A

Mineral, pure, elegant with intensity. Yellow fruits, great finesse. Like the Pechstein below, a strong candidate for Riesling GG of the tasting. 94/A

Peach, white nectarine nose. Finesse, intensity, touch coconut, medium-weight, good drive and length. 93/A
2018 (Forst) Pechstein Riesling GG
Ripe yellow peach, peach blossom. Yellow peach, pure, intense, precise. Very long finish. A strong candidate for Riesling GG of the vintage among the wines that I tasted. 94/A
