2017 Württemberg Spätburgunder GG (Burghalde, Forstberg, Gips Marienglas, Himmelreich, Herzogenberg, Lämmler, Linnenbrunnen, Schupen) -- Aldinger, Dautel, Ellwanger, Haidle, Held, Schnaitmann, Weinberg, Wöhrwag

This is a fairly good selection, with Dautel being the standout producer.

ALDINGER

2017 (Untertürkheim) Gips Marienglas Spätburgunder GG
Medium-light, dark berry fruit, good length in mouth. 90/A-

2017 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG
Medium-light, red currant, good length. Still a touch of hardness. 89(+)/B+

DAUTEL

2017 (Obersteinfeld) Forstberg Spätburgunder GG
Floral nose, bit of spice. Fruity red and dark fruits, light, elegant. Relatively simple, but most attractive nonetheless. 90/A-

2017 (Bönnigheim) Schupen Spätburgunder GG
Floral nose. Light on palate, nice intensity, good definition to red and dark berry fruit. Elegant — Volnayish (perhaps unsurprising, since Dautel did an apprenticeship with Comtes Lafon in Meursault). 91/A

Jürgen ELLWANGER

2017 (Hebsacker) Linnenbrunnen Spätburgunder GG
Creamy, round, red fruits, delicious, but not great precision. 88/B

Karl HAIDLE

2017 (Schnait) Burghalde Spätburgunder GG
Strawberry nose. Medium-light in mouth, still tight, red fruits. 88(+)/B

HELD

2017 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG
Medium-light, dark berry, a bit of spice. 89+/B+

Rainer SCHNAITMANN

2017 (Fellbach) Lämmler Spätburgunder GG
Less New World style than the wines used to be. Dark berry fruit, lightness, but a bit tannic on finish. 88+/B

Staatsweingut WEINSBERG

2017 (Gundelsheim) Himmelreich Spätburgunder GG
Floral nose. Medium-weight, red fruit, some tannin, a touch coarse. 88/B

WÖHRWAG

2017 (Untertürkheim) Herzogenberg Spätburgunder GG
Coffee-chocolate nose — reduction. Medium-light body, dark berry fruit, smooth. 89/B+
